Well I’m late, as always.  >.<

On another note, the blog might be down near the end of the month. Gah, hosting issues. So if it does, please come back on October 1st, where everything *should* be fixed. And afterwards, I’ll probably be forced to limit adding youtube videos and pictures to a lower extent. I should’ve researched my hosting much more before I decided to use it. I regret not noticing so much now. Dx I don’t want to get punished for having views! Nuu! Don’t do this to me!

Also, I highly doubt that I’m going to be blogging much. I mean, I’m pretty busy with school and everything, plus I’m starting back up piano classes next month, so that’s even more. And my dad doesn’t really want me go to on blogs, so the only time I can go on is the weekdays. Quite a lose-lose situation. I am busy on the weekdays, where I can blog, and am free on the weekends, when I can’t.

Summer 2009: Final Impressions

Summer turned out to be a really good season. There were tons of shows that were good, but I was so busy I barely got to watch any. It turned out I was a lot busier than I thought, and so I didn’t get to watch all of the shows I wanted to follow, since there were so many. The only summer show I followed the whole time was Sora no Manimani. Pathetic, isn’t it? I only got to watch a few episodes of the others before I had to stop following it, which has now led to a big backlog list. Oh well. The one I followed closest after SnM was probably Umineko. All in all, it was a good season. So good, that I overwhelmed myself.

Sora no Manimani was a good series I have to admit, and it was a fun, light-hearted, show that gave me many fangirly squeals and happiness. I loved the animation of the stars and I was so interested in actually getting into stars. Not many shows do that, so I give props to SnM for being able to do so. I ended up at least liking every single character. They were all so unique and fun in their own ways, I have to admit.

The other show was Umineko. Beato-sama!!! She is just so awesome! Battler x Beatrice ftw! I just loved the episodes I watched. It was different from what I usually watch, yet I loved it. I really need to catch up, since I loved that series. It was mysterious, suspenseful, and the opening I think was the best of the season.

Bakemonogatari. Sigh…I wish I was able to follow that series. I know a lot of it was pretty good reading through blogs, and it made me want to watch it. But I had to catch up and just couldn’t find any “alone time” to do so. I have to say though, I love the music in the show. The ending song is my favorite for the season.

Umi Monogatari…I missed all of the action! Subs were so slow I found myself not following it, which made me sad after seeing how far it advanced. The characters were cute though, and according to the blogs, it turns out that my crack theory sorta came somewhat true. Just…later in the series. -.-?

Other than those shows, the other show I DEMAND I finish, is Tokyo Magnitude 8.0. I loved what I watched, and I’ve just heard so many good things that I just have to watch more of it. Gah. Time….stop for meh!! >:D

I ended up still following Pandora Hearts and 07-Ghost as well, although 07-Ghost went a bit downhill for me, Pandora Hearts is still as awesome as eva! I feel so bad that they’ve already ended. TT^TT

Overall, good season. I ended up only following one from this season, and 3 from the other seasons. So with the other shows all ending, I’ll be able to pick up more this Fall possibly. Let’s hope school won’t interfere too much now. :D

Fall Anime 2009

Nyan Koi!

I think I’m the only one who has some mild interest in this seemingly jacked up anime. Yup. I’m interested, yet I think the plot is pretty sucky looking. Plus, the image doesn’t help too much either. But I don’t know, seeing the trailer, it didn’t look as bad. The animation looks nice, and it just looks like a cute, light-hearteded anime. So we’ll see. I’ll probably just check out the first episode just for the heck of it. But the kitties are cute nonetheless. xD

Ooh! This anime just looks so good~ And it looks like it came from a visual novel which usually = awesome animation. The character designs are so eye-catching (I mean, after Ikuto’s eye patch, I’m just <3 with eye patches). The picture just caught my interest. Even though I don’t know much about it, I’ll still be looking very much forward to it. Everyone else’s interest in it also makes me excited for it as well.

Watching: Likely to do some random catch-ups. Will watch the first episode though.

I feel like a loner. ._. I’m actually pretty interested in it (ignoring the girl with her bewbs hanging out O.o). The plot sounds interesting, and the trailer isn’t half bad. I remember awhile back there was I think a show called Library Wars. I’ve never actually watched it, but I was always compelled by the idea of having an anime involving librarians. It’s unique, so I was thinking of finally watching one starting with this! And I always loved books with special powers, it’s…something that always just appealed to me I guess?

Hahahaha…wut? I’m trying it out? Huh?! Right….I’m lawling so hard on how it seems and looks, but I saw the trailer and I seemed a little interested. The character designs are nice, and I have people I want to ship together just looking at the trailer and everything. Kya~ But I’m not expecting too much from this anime. Just a peak won’t hurt though!

Miracle Train ~Oedo-sen e Youkoso~

Since I’ve heard of the series, I’ve been really interested in watching it. It looks like a really fun, cute, adorable, cooking anime. Plus, cooking series are always win, because they make me hungry~ xD A lot of us are fearing for the 3-D aspect since we saw how much Gokujou blah blah was a 3D failure. But I doubt it will be. If it’s done right, I think I’ll really enjoy it and watch it to take a break from a stressful day. x) The characters look very cute as well, and my shipping senses are tingling!

I confess! I haven’t watched the first one. TT^TT I’ve really wanted to though, since the plot sounds so cute, and the character designs, blushing, all of it. Plus, an anime about an otaku is always funny. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get past the first episode with some of the ecchi, since I’m almost never completely alone in a room to watch, because I don’t want my brother to walk by and yell out I’m watching something inappropriate (he likes getting me in trouble XP). Anyways, so I’m hoping to be able to at least watching some of this, since I know that the first season was really good, so hopes on that!

The trailer was just stunning and the voices matched perfectly. I’ve heard so many great things about the manga that I’m super excited and hyped up. It looks like my type of show that I’ll be giggling with shipping. And I also forgot, cherry blossoms everywhere! *goes spazzy on cherry blossoms* Is it October 6th yet?

Darker Than Black: Gemini of the Falling Star

In the sequel, Hei and Yin are now on the run after betraying the Syndicate in the previous season. I was looking at the chart and wow. I can’t believe they’re doing a Lilo and Stitch remake. That’s what I call desperate. I just wish that they’d just leave the show be. Ah well…just….wow.

I was showing my other friend who has an interest in anime the latest shows, and she told me about Winter Sonata. Apparently she has the DVDs for the Korean drama. It’s a Korean drama? It’s pretty odd having it adapted into an anime. We’ll just see how it goes. O.o Not sure if I’ll be intersted int hat though.

Well that’s it for now. There were more I decided to omit for the list. This is not the complete list, just saying. But are the shows that caught at least a bit of my interest. I said no to blogging every single one, since I have not defintie in my blogigng unless I do short blog posts. I have a high drop expectation for this season, since the win shows are good enough already. xDD But anyways, ciao!~

The Wallflower

Recently, I’ve began to watch The Wallflower and so far I’m at episode 20. I don’t really know how I feel about the series. I guess it’s okay. The animation was really hard to get over, but then whenever I think I’m watching bad animation, I just have to remind myself of Gokujou Mecha Mote Iinchou. Then I guess that just helps me remember that at least the animation isn’t as bad as that 3-D stuff. But still, the characters are drawn…oddly, mainly the guys. It’s a really funny show to watch though. The characters are really funny, but I didn’t get as much fluff and romance as I’d hope. I love the main character, but I get annoyed that she’s always a chibi. Sometimes I’d like to see her real form instead. It’s kinda funny how they use it though. There were times when I’d like the series, go down to boredom, then the interest would be revived. Like a rollercoaster. Ah…but then the last time I watched it I got so bored I fell asleep. -_-|||

Hetalia Axis Powers

Sealand-kun!! Omg, he’s so cute. >.< But anyways, I started watching more Hetalia Axis Powers, and gosh I love it all over again. The Cleaning Out the Storage scene is finally over, but I have to say, Studio DEEN did it justice. The seiyuus did so well with their roles and…god I love it.

And as I’ve said before, Sealand-kun!! Anyways, since I didn’t know much about Sealand, I decided to look it up. :O There’s that immensely small population, and yet they have everything a country has. So Sealand should definitely be considered a country! >:D And rofl at Russia being yandere and Lithuania telling Sealand there’s lots more cons than pros on being a nation. xD

Shugo Chara!! Doki Episode 87

Well as I’ve mentioned before, I didn’t get to do my SC! post this week. I feel shameful. u_u At least it’s still a filler episode. But I’ll put my thoughts here, since I don’t have much to say anyways. I actually had a meh feeling towards the episodes, but more of a good “meh”. I was glad that we finally got some filler plot development. Lulu was finally exposed, and yet we also got to see better sides of Lulu. I have to say though, she looks better with her hair down right after she woke up. xD Nana was so overly dramatic when she was sick, and I felt so bad for the charas running around so much for her.

Eden of the East

Quick blurb: I still haven’t watched the last episode. x_x Shame on me. But apparently there are two movies coming out. King of Eden and Paradise Lost are the second halves of the title…if I remember correctly. Anyways, excited~ One is coming out I heard in Q4 of this year, and Q1 of next. Excited already~

Charming Junkie

Kya~ I finally finished off the latest chapter scanlated. Omg~ I love the chemistry between Umi and Naka. I love how Ikue love anything strawberry flavored. I lol’ed so much every time he brought those things up. I kept on fangirling on every bit of thing that I saw. I already mentioned this before in BB, so yes. Read~! Papillon: Hana to Chou

I read some of the scanlated chapters, and it’s actually a pretty good series that kinda goes unnoticed. My friend actually found it in the book store, read a couple chapters, and suggested it to me (oh yeah, I never mentioned it before, I turned my friends into otakus! xD). *Ahem* Anyways, I started laughing like crazy at the horse mask thing, and ended up calling that one guy…”Horse Guy”. But when I found out that he was the student councilor, the first thimg that came to mine was pedo!! He has crazy planning skills (psh..I still find it hard to believe that he planned everything out). I really do not like the sister (forgot everyone’s names)…-_- But yes, I actually am enjoying the series, I hope to finish up the scanlated chapters. Surprisingly enjoyable. ^^

Fly High

Yeah, only 3 chapters scanlaated, but again, I’m enjoying it so far. I get easily pleased~A different friend suggested this manga and gosh…shipping dilemma. Dx Oh well, it’s only 3 chapters out so far so it’s okay. I got disappointed about the cover guy though. When I saw the splash page I’m like, “Ooh he looks awesome~” only to find out he has a ponytail (not that I have anything against it, it just looks so odd on him) -_-. And even more disappoinments. But besides that, pretty enjoyable too. The plot is pretty funny, about a girl being confused as a guy with her father; thus, being raised as a boy. But now after being trained in every type of martial arts, she has to try to become a feminine girly-girl. I admire how she is really loyal and courageous though, and she pwns.

Koko ni Iru Yo!

Yes!~ More chapters were scanlated, yay! I thought that KnIY was forgotten or something. These last two chapters have made me really like Teru. I guess figuring out why he was called Black Rabbit really made me like him. I guess it’s because I can somewhat relate to him. Sometimes it seems like even though I hang out with a bunch of people, I’m barely close to any of them…only a few. And how Teru also has problems with his parents, I used to have similar experiences as that. Whenever I was a little kid, my parents would argue, and no matter what I did, they would always say that I was just a kid. I really love my parents, I do, so that’s why  it would always hurt. And sometimes they would consider divorce, but would never do it because of their kids. Thankfully now it’s better settled and everyone gets along better. But ah well! Small boring personal rambling!

But that aside, I’m still a somewhat neutral shipper in this manga. I mean, I somewhat support Teru, but I still like/be satisfied with Hinata. But omg, little Teru and Hinata are so adorable and cute~ I wanna cuddle everyone! >.< But I’m so glad new chapters came out~ Love them, awesome cliffhanger. xD

Cherry Juice

Ah, Cherry Juice. I just finished this manga yesterday. It’s a really cute manga, but touches on sibling love. But hey, they’re step siblings, so I think it’s okay. I mean, I think it was a really cute manga and everything, even the ending. I enjoyed it. Hmmm….not saying much about it, but I’m happy that it’s one of those mangas where everyone gets paired up. And I’m even happy with all of the pairings (even though one of them is sort of random, the manga points out its randomness). And I love the character’s chemistry~

Kimi wa Girlfriend

I finished this manga last week, from the same mangaka as Special A. Ah, I love it, it’s so cute for a 4 chapter manga. ^^ It’s hilarious, and so sweet too. Especially the ending. All of the character’s quirks are funny, despite it feeling illogical. But hey, it’s a manga. xD I love their quirks though, like Hatsune insulting everyone, and Kirie trying to always fix Hatsune. It’s a shame it’s only 4 chapters, but I think that the mangaka was able to make those 4 chapters WORK and feel like it’s a whole lot more. Not much to say on this either, except love~

Soulmate

Omg~ When I was only allowed to go to crunchyroll, YouTube, and wikipedia, I decided to watch some dramas and I ran into Soulmate! And I love it so far, so I might even include it in Monthly Mania. So far I’ve been skipping around episodes xD…shame on me. Anyways…onto some character thoughts. I always lol at Yu-jin…I don’t know why, I guess the way she reacts to everything, and always throwing up on that one guy. xD Ryohei…I don’t get the point of him besides being there to be paired up with someone. He’s just there for all those playgirls to flock around? Philip annoys me like crazy, being one of those weak guys. D:< Any new girl comes into his life and he caves. Now onto my two favorite characters, also making my favorite pair! :D Dong-wook and Su-Kyeong (or however her name is spelled), the two people pictured. I skipped around episodes trying to find the moment they meet, and kya~ I love that part. It’s a sweet sort of funny (despite Dong-wook having an odd expression on his face). Dong-wook is just….awesome, I really don’t know how to describe it, and Su-Kyeong is hilarious. Anyways, love the drama so far~

Nodame Cantabile

I couldn’t bring myself to watch the anime, so I decided to check out an episode of the drama, since it was rated 5 stars. I only watched the first episode, so not a lot to say, but it is a funny drama. Nodame has so many funny quirks, that I love her already. She’s just so lovable, in a weird way. Her room was scary, and I loved how Chiaki was able to react just the same way as me. Finally cleaning up the room, ah. He’s also hilarious, just the way he reacts in anger with everything makes me laugh somehow.

Music

I honestly don’t have much for the music section, which is a surprise to me since that’s usually my biggest section. Oh well, here goes.

I heard that CLAMP produced a PV and I decided to check it out. It turns out that it was the Hatsune Miku song, Mugen no Yami -echoes of the past.. Hearing that CLAMP produced the PV finally gave me the motivation to listen to a VOCALOID song. I love the music, but I have to say I love the video just as much…possibly more. I mean, it’s CLAMP, but shallow reasons aside, their art was beautiful…as usual. xD It was simple, but somehow it flowed so well. I guess I just like it. And the music is just a fun easy-listening song. Here’s the video:

I also listened to the K-On! Character singles. Gah, I just love Mio’s voice (or more like, Yoko Hikasa’s voice)…so I really loved her character singles too. I love the beginning bass guitar solo for Heart Goes Boom!!, and Hello Little Girl is just so relaxing. Ahh…

I was in the mood to listen to some Big Bang songs, and I ended finding Lollipop and Haru Haru. Not much to say about Lollipop, I mean it’s catchy but sort of dirty. But Haru Haru is the one I’m focusing on. I’m not sure why I like it, I think it’s one of their rare deep songs. And the video just made it so much more touching. I almost got teary-eyed watching the video. It’s just so touching! Dx Sure maybe a bit overdramatic, but most videos like this are. And sure they have a lot of mascara >_>…but I’m ignoring that. Blog Info

I originally had something else to write, but I forgot. x_x I have terrible short term memory. Anyways, there isn’t that much to add to blog info. It turns out the original theme I was going to change to after this theme will be put off til August. I’ll be changing themes, but to a different theme than what I originally had planned. That theme will come in July, and ah well, I’ll just make a new post. There isn’t much I’m going to release about that theme. Unless…you can somehow find my test blog. ;] But even then it’s on private. xD So anyways, yes. The themes are getting rearranged, basicly.

I’m also going to say it right now, blogging is going to be inconsistent this summer. I’ll explain that later too.

And starting next Blossom Blabber I’m probably going to change the way I title it, since doing the weeks is sort of boring and I’m tired of doing week 4 & 5. Maybe I’ll add the week in the post instead…But changing the title starting next week. It’s still going to Blossom Blabber, but I’ll replace the week half.

Computer Troubles

Before, on twitter, I mentioned that I had taken an unexpected leave. I also said previously that I was restricted to go on only 3 sites, and blogging will be inconsistent, and reading manga lead to my demise. Now I’ll explain. I ended up getting a virus from mangafox. Don’t worry, I’m using a different computer right now. How do I know I got it from mangafox? Awhile back I remember Kaspersky catching a trojan from mangafox, but I got tempted to read some Charming Junkie and went back to mangafox. I thought maybe I was wrong, maybe it wasn’t mangafox. There wasn’t anything wrong with it before. But when I went back on, my adobe reader opened up suddenly, and I immediately scanned my computer. A virus…no, a trojan. My dad takes viruses pretty seriously. We thought we fixed it, it popped up again. We might have to end up reformatting my computer. :/ Because it won’t leave. In the beginning of the week, I had to use my dad’s laptop, in which he only let me on three sites. The ones mentioned before. Oh, and I’m not allowed to go on blogs anymore on my computer. -_- That might pose a problem with blogging SC!, since I can’t use the computer I’m using right now on the weekends. I’ll figure something out…I hope (it’s my fault anyways). And that‘s why angry chibi Taiga fits.

Vector Brushes

On a happy note, I got some vector brushes and other neat brushes! Ah I love them and I’m going crazy making a bunch of graphics with them. xD These are the two brushes: Vector and Winter Breeze. Kya~ Unfortunately, I still can’t master the brushes, but I changed the background on my twitter profile, GaiaOnline profile, and YouTube profile (which is not blossomgirl101, btw). Thoughts:

Ah, Lovely Complex, I decided to stick with a Japanese movie first. I was first interested in this when I borrowed the manga from the library, and decided to research it. After seeing a picture of Ohtani as an actual person, I found out there was a live action and that sparked my interest. Yeah, boring. Another reason is because of Hiro Mizushima, since I love almost all of the dramas he stars in.

Lovely Complex is based after the manga, with the same name (also known as Love-Com). It is a really cute movie, and is also pretty loyal to the manga. But, like most movies, it cut off some scenes and the other main characters didn’t play as big of a role as they do in the manga/anime. Sometimes it seemed a little corny, but other times it was…realistic? Also, the narrator bugged me with it’s attempt at English (Japanese could’ve been fine). I had to shove my headphones against my ears to try to decipher what he said. But, besides that, I laughed a lot, and enjoyed it.  The characters are really enjoyable to begin with, with the exception of the fangirls (and Risa when she was one), the sister, the narrator, and the student teacher (I couldn’t tell if he and the narrator are the same people). The student teacher though wasn’t that bad at the end though. The movie overall is a cute romance story with your typical shoujo-ness and small drama.

Even though her personality is able to break through to Lee Shin, scandals, the return of Min Hyo-rin, and the introduction of Lee Shin’s cousin Lee Yool complicates matters for the couple.

Thoughts:

Princess Hours, or Goong (the shorter, easier to type title I’ll be using), is a romance comedy story filled with tons of drama. In the beginning, it was full of fluff with twists, turns, and yet it was enjoyable to see their love develop. The first half of it was great. However, it’s to be warned that later, it starts getting much more dramatic, and it drags on, in a bad way.

For the characters, there is a lot of character development. To me, the most dramatic change came from Min Hyo-rin. The main girl, was very fun to watch at certain times, and other times, she’s pretty annoying. She is your average shoujo-like heroine. Her personality is able to affect everyone around her. The prince is a pretty sane person most of the time, and is probably my favorite character. He’s just really cool, but like everyone else, has his bad moments (less though). The cousin is actually a pretty nice character, but in the near end he began to bug me too.

The drama is actually a pretty good, enjoyable, and addicting drama. I mean, I really liked it, I finished 24 episodes in a week or less (which for me is quick considering the length of the drama episodes). But there is some extreme drama in there, and I wanted it to end at a certain spot, since it would be a perfect ending…until it keeps going. So it’s a good drama, but the ending is a little disappointing. If you love romance, comedy, and extra drama, this is the…drama series for you. -_-||| xD

Thoughts

So right now, the majority is probably going, “Wtf?” But honestly, don’t let the looks of it fool you. The game is still in development, but I felt it should be in the spotlight. This game is…kiddish I will admit, but it’s pretty fun for a kids game. I was in the betas of the game, and it’s really enjoyable. To be honest, I was somewhat addicted to it. -’_'- There are tons to do, and it’s a good starter game for people going into RPGs. It has all of the elements of an RPG, but in a simpler form. The graphics are pretty good, and there are always quests to keep you going. There are people from all age groups, and the guilds are really nice. So far, the players have created one of the best communities I’ve seen. My old blog revolved around this game (since the blog and the game were hosted by SanrioTown). I mentioned before that there are guilds, and for me it starts getting fun when you actually join one. I’ve enjoyed and loved this game for all it’s cuteness and fluff, and it’s great for relaxing and starting off your first RPG.

Puchi Puri Yuushi

Summary:

Yucie, really a 17-year old stuck in a 10-year old’s body (she has a curse on her), would do anything to become her age. When she hears of an oppurtunity to become a chosen Platina Princess, and then have the power to use a tiara that grants a special wish to the Platina Princess once every 1000 years, Yucie goes for it with clear determination.

Thoughts:

Well, usually I wouldn’t be recommending new anime, since I’m assuming that most of the people reading this are already anime fans, but this is a pretty underestimated anime that not many have known about. I found it during my marathon Summer last year, while I was looking for new anime to watch. I was really glad I found this by a small chance and happened to pass through it. Puchi Puri Yuushi (can I call it PPY? It’s a mouthful) is an anime that brings back that fairytale charm that remind you of your childhood shows and movies. It’s about Yucie, a girl who has a curse on her, and so she wants to get rid of it as soon as she can. She soon meets other girls who are going after a tiara for the same reason: to change their bodies back to their original age. It’s a really cute, fluffy show that just makes you smile. There is the prince, with cute tsundere romance that we all love as well. Each character is also unique, and each of them come from their own world, with their own past. It elaborates on each of their pasts, and makes the show’s characters the strongpoint. You have your average shoujo heroine, your cute/polite meganekko, your tsundere rival/friend, and your overly strict and pressured girl.

I enjoyed, like I mentioned before, the charm, the cuteness, and the fluffyness. It also has laugh out loud comedic moments. It’s an anime that I feel deserves a little spotlight. There are also morals in this story, and it just has every element a shoujo has with a fairytale twist.

The spring season barely has anything good, but it’s okay, I have a couple unexpected shows that I’m following, and are good-looking. And unexpected shows I’m not going to follow (or at least not get excited over). Sorry it’s a late post, but I just finished watching everything I wanted to watch. So it’s just a blurb on all of the anime I watched for Spring. But Spring is making me turn to more mangas. >_>

On a bonus note…April. Oivei. Anyways, this month I have huge tests to study for and all the posts I had planned are probably b e postponed. :( These two months are sooo busy. -_- May will, I hope, be better.

In whatever order…

I was too lazy to upload the images, so yes, images taken off the internet. I provided the link to where I found it. I don’t like doing that, but the computer I’m currently using is jam-packed. It’s already taking 15 minutes to start up. O.o Um, and I tried recycling images…oh how lazy can I get??

Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~

Super long name. And the word Phantom got so repetitive! Anyways, this show wasn’t actually that bad, it kept my attention the whole way through. Of course, there were some scenes that were brought up randomly. I got lost a lot trying to figure out what was the past, present, or whatever. The animation wasn’t great, but wasn’t terrible (we all know it could be worse). The music fits well with the show, and so it isn’t that bad. But the animation for the opening and ending I found was pretty…I don’t know what word would fit. But he was walking on the ceilings. O.o It’s supposed to be cool, but to wrap it up, I didn’t really like the animation for the OP and ED. Let’s see, for the characters, apparantly the guy is supposed to have lost his memory. Ein is pretty cool, as an emotionless, assassin. She’s probably my favorite character. Um…that’s about it for now. So I think I’ll watch it a little more, to see how it is. It hasn’t turned me away yet.

K-On!

Everyone seems to love this show, and it seems to be the favorite for the season for a lot of people. I enjoyed this show a lot, and it is an extremely cute show. I liked Lucky Star, so I guess that’s why I liked this show more. It’s just a slice-of-life, so it’s good to watch for relaxing. Sometimes I went -_- and others I smiled. KyoAni never gives me trouble on the animation, need I say more? This show is about music, and so far the music is pretty good. The opening isn’t bad, but the ending is probably the best thing about this series. It’s awesome! It’s one of my favorite endings now. :D The outfits are sort of out there, but the rest is so catchy that I gotta love it! Mio is freakin’ awesome, Yui is moe-full, Tsumugi is your extremely polite and nice ojou-sama, and Ritsu’s the dramatic one. Overall, it’s not a bad cast of characters. I’m going to keep watching this too, even though I originally didn’t plan to, it’s a cute show.

Gokujou!! Mecha Mote Inchou

Omg. Worst. Anime. Of. The. Season. I’m depressed. Seriously, if the animation wasn’t 3-D, the show would have been fine. Then again, I went -_-||| too on how the main girl acted towards the main guy, since she seemed like an obsessed fangirl. But the animation. My god. I wish I never would have had to see those sticks. It reminds me of those Barbie movies, but even those were more fluid (don’t ask how I know). I wanna cry! So moving on. The characters would have been pretty good looking. The main guy was pretty cool, and the main girl seemed pretty nice, but I guess I can’t really acknowledge that anymore. So yes, I am officially dropping this (And I really wanted to see that hamster…has it popped up yet? I dropped the episode within 5 minutes).

Valkyria Chronicles

I didn’t plan on watching this show, but I heard it was a good show, so I did watch it and it was good. :D I enjoyed watching it, and it has a hint of everything that I love. Awesome action, romance, etc. The music’s mediocre, but I liked it still. I’m able to pay attention more on the show. The animation is decent I guess, I like it. It fits well, and the sketch effect is unique, in a good way. The characters are great. Alice is awesome! And her hair is awesome as well, I love her pigtails! She seems like a cute tsundere, especially around Welkin. And then there’s Welkin, he’s the easy-going guy. Haha, I feel sorry for him with all of the confusion, but he’s likable. And his sister is awesome too, my second favorite character just because she’s so cool handling her weapons. Tank, shooting the soldier, etc. This show totally caught my attention, so I’m definitely following.

07-Ghost

Oh look, more laziness...

One of my favorite expected-to-be shows of the season! Kyaa~Ah I love the story for it, I love the character relationships, and I love the voice acting. The animation is loyal to the manga, and a great adaptation in terms of character design, etc. Sometimes I get confused by the story a little, but I’ll try to manage. They didn’t kill it or anything. Mikage reminds me so much of Tamaki, and that’s one reason why I like him. I love how he is so great to Teito, and so genki it makes me smile. Teito is cool, but there are other characters that outshine him more. Looking forward to the introduction of all the characters…But I am definitely watching and continuing as well.

Pandora Hearts

When things looked awesome for the anime

It’s…very sad. A very sad, sad adaptation. I barely wanted to finish the first episode. It’s boring. I know that people are complaining about how the animation quality isn’t good, but I can live with it. I’m going to watch a couple more episodes to see if it’s just a bad first impression, because I don’t want to lost hope. This was one of the shows I was looking forward to the most. For my opinion on the animation, not bad. It isn’t as good as I thought it’d be, but I can live with it. As for the characters…eh. I’m hoping to make Alice my favorite character, since she looked awesome in the promo pics, but in the episode, I guess the evil-like laugh kinda turned me off. Oh well, I’ll leave it to the next couple episodes to get a proper impression. But my first impression, not good.

Eden of the East

lolwut? Random…I liked this show despite it’s…awkwardness. xD It was quite…interesting. It was interesting but I liked it. An actual show where they got English voice actors for once. It can get bothersome when they try to get someone to speak English but they have a terribly thick accent, so I acknowledge them for their effort. The animation reminded me of a North American show though…but it’s still decent. I’m not a big fan of it though. And I don’t get their noses. Oh well, I can manage. I like the opening, it’s really cool, especially the animation for it. The second anime I’ve seen where they’ve used an English song. The characters are pretty funny. Especially Akira. The nakedness was…random. O.o He flashes too much though. O.o Um…he bribes people off of doing that or what? And Saki is a likable character as well, especially her reactions. She seems pretty calm for seeing a naked man. -_-I’ll be following this to see where this is heading…

I still need to watch Tears to Tiara and Asura Cryin’. Oh well, it’s low on my priority list. So now I’ll be going back to reading/watching Lovely Complex (never got back to it since last year). And my friends are pressuring me to read Kitchen Princess. Also note that these are my impressions for the FIRST episodes, so…even though it may be different for the second episode, it’s only considering the first.

Well, honestly, I got sick of doing nothing but Shugo Chara, but I found myself thinking to hard on what to write, when it suddenly came back. I had a tweet awhile ago about how I wanted to re-marathon Shugo Chara (funny how I just mentioned it…) during my spring break, and I accidentally misread something that gave me an idea on what to write! Re-thinking my history with anime, whatever sparked my interest in anime. Btw, this is a really sloppy post, just warning you, since it’s my first real rambling.

Early Years…Before I Realized I Actually Watched Anime

I think the first anime I’ve ever watched was Pokemon, when I was just a little kid. Honestly, I think almost every little kid has watched Pokemon once in their lives. I watched it a lot, with my whole family, and I totally loved the show. I watched all of the movies, and watched with my friends. There really isn’t much to say about this time, since I barely remembered it, but oh well. Around this time, I also began watching Sailor Moon, which I thought was so totally cool as well, and I got tons of items, showing it off, etc. I began watching Yu-Gi-Oh! and a bunch of other stuff on TV that I didn’t know was an anime adaptation (Rurouni Kenshin), and I also watched Cardcaptor Sakura…English Dubbed. =_=

Anime Came to America…Manga

Now it’s a time jump and the one anime that really sparked it for me was, Naruto. I hate to admit it, but Naruto was one of the reasons I got into anime. When I first saw the commercial I was like, “Lolwut?” but my brother said it was a pretty cool looking show. Me, being the gullible, always following my brother kind of person, I decided to watch it. I watched the show, and I totally fell in love with it. I thought it was the best thing in the world, and became one of those obsessed fans who have to be home at exactly 4 to watch a show. I jumped to the couch, and would ignore everything except for the show, and yell at it when it was done (creepy me). I even got a couple Naruto gifts for my birthday, which I went crazy for. And I found out about mangas as well. I guess I had opened my eyes to something new and was lavishing it. It was new, I was crazy over it. My uncle downloaded it everyday for us to watch, and around now I knew it was an anime. xD And from Naruto, I got introduced to YouTube so I could watch it whenever I wanted. I soon learned that Japanese dubs pwned English dubs. :D Also, unfortunately I got introduced to Wikipedia. Erm, I was wiki-happy (4+ hours reading Wikipedia =.=)? Naruto also had an influence on my username…>.> Haha, but I have an extreme short attention span~

I forgot how, but I began watching Cardcaptor Sakura. I sort of started losing interest in Naruto, and shifted it all to CCS. I watched some episodes here and there on YouTube, but I couldn’t find all of the episodes, and I guess I realized that Naruto wasn’t all that great, compared to the wonderful CCS. I got DVDs, stayed up late watching non-stop CCS, and found out my favorite types of anime. Romance~! I started learning Japanese here and there too! :D I found out how much I loved the show, and I could re-watch it without getting tired of it. And for the heck of it, I watched the English dub. That time, I learned that most English dubs are terrible. Too bad I started out with a classic though, so it’s hard to top it. This all happened over the summer, so when school came back around, I had to stop…

Shugo Chara…Otaku Summer

Up until around this time I had always only focused on one of those really long animes, and I didn’t know that an average anime was 26 episodes long. I could safely say that I wasn’t that interested in anime anymore and I focused more on web designing and forums. So it was a big time gap when I got interested in anime again, but this time, I fell hard for anime. I could vividly remember it, haha. I was just at a restaurant when suddenly, my friend calls me up and gives me some great news. Excited, I ask what it is, and she tells me to go watch an anime. And I’m just asking for the name, and she tells me it’s called Shugo Chara. I go “Wth is with the title?” and I keep getting an image of Skip Beat in my head (but this is when I was an ignorant fool who didn’t want to read it) and think of it as some weird too-girly show. They convinced me to watch it and I was like, “Holy snap this is nothing like what I thought! It’s awesome!” and soon I was further than them. Ikuto was my favorite character (but before I watched the show I wiki-ed the show and thought that Ikuto was some other dude who was an old silly man, because of the way they described him), and I immediately felt the chemistry between him and Amu. I loved the show, and had to watch more and more of it. Reruns were fine, and episode 33 was the episode in which I got introduced to anime blogging, starting with Simplicity.

It was over the summer, and I had to fill the time on my hands with something that I hoped would be as good as Shugo Chara. That’s when I began watching other animes and opening up my horizons, and I also realized that Naruto can’t compare to most of these animes (no offense to any Naruto fans). I went crazy over all of these new animes, and found sites like MAL and CR for my anime needs. So then I started marathoning animes and the time for me to usually finish an anime was an average of two days for an average length anime. I fell in love with Full Moon, Fruits Basket, OHSHC, and Special A the most. By then I realized that I just loved anime in general, and it wasn’t all about Shugo Chara anymore. I watched these anime for fun, if I could finish them so quickly. Not just to fill up my time waiting for another episode to come out. But since this was only last year, I still have a small list of completed anime, compared to most people. I called this my otaku summer, and I had to watch anime every day. It was a force of habit. But unfortunately that period ended too, since school started and I started singing a lot (my voice sucks for anyone who wants to know).

Skip Beat!…Blogging

I had started watching some ToraDora, Shugo Chara, and Skip Beat! but I started losing hope for many good anime. I felt as if I watched all of the good ones already, so I stopped looking for new anime. It seemed like a hopeless cause. I had gotten into blogging, but when I finally had the chance to catch up to Skip Beat!, my love for anime was revived. Obviously my first impression of Skip Beat was wrong as well, although I still can’t convince anyone else that Skip Beat is great. I had to watch the next episode, and it felt like the summer again. ToraDora also became better and better. I found more and more anime blogs, and since I was so stuck on what I wanted to blog, I decided to have an anime blog (actually, a blog on any form of entertainment, so if I got bored of anime, I could blog something else, but I doubt that’ll happen). And it has been a blog I’ve enjoyed the most. So here it is! Also, Maria+Holic somewhat revived this love as well. I can’t marathon though, since I have school, but I still enjoy it, even now.

Bleach was also an anime I went crazy for, but I forgot which period it was in, so I decided not to put it in there. I had to yell at the TV every midnight, but oh well, yay for YouTube.

I can seriously say that my love for anime went up and down, but I never permanently got rid of it. It’s stuck on, unlike some other things. Despite my short attention span, anime just seems to never get old with me. I also began to enjoy mangas along the way. So anyways, here we are. I have a feeling that I won’t be getting tired of anime anytime soon. :D

Ah, Maria†Holic. And my first anime post! *ahem* Moving on. I have to admit that I was really skeptical of this at first, but after hearing how good it is from everyone else, I just had to watch it. So now I can say that I can agree with what everyone has said. It really does look good, and I can see what all the hype is about. Now I am one of those people who try to convince everyone it really is a good anime/manga, and trying to get everyone to watch it. But I guess that’s my first impression of it, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see if it is as good as it begins. So far, it’s my favorite for the holiday season. ;D

Story & Plot:

When I started reading the summary, I thought, “Oh great, is it a yuri?” I guess you can say I’m not much of a yuri or yaoi fan, it’s kind of awkward to me. But as I read the rest of the summary, my mind had changed to trap and maybe-not-so-yuri. So here is a general summary of the first episode, since it is already subbed, I suppose an in-dept one is unnecessary.

The episode begins with Kanako Miyamae who arrives to an all-girls school, determined to find her destined parter, just like her parents. (Humorously, it begins with a monologue about how girls should have a maiden heart.) Lost at this new school, she accidentally arrives at Maria Shidou’s family grounds, being greeted by her maid, Matsurika who calls her a pig lady. Maria introduces herself, and Kanako is also enthralled in her beauty and looks, calling Maria her type of girl.  Kanako accidentally slips out how she is looking for her destined mate at this school. She also notes how any contact with a boy produces HIVES, and that guys are dirty and scary. Hearing this, Maria smirks and kisses Kanako, much to her surprise. Kanako goes to the girl’s dorm and Maria goes to Archery Club. Kanako begins talking to the dorm leader, a cute little girl with cat ears and her dog. Kanako also meets her roommate, Ryuuken Ishima in which Kanako also begins blushing around. Kanako goes back to the Archery Club to look for Maria who told her she’d show Kanako around the school. Much in awe, Kanako accidentally comes in when Maria is changing with the help of her maid. As they walk around the school, Kanako suddenly pulls out a tree and throws it (scary…O.o) telling Maria, “Do not make a fool of me!” Maria plays dumb and Kanako er…grabs “that” to verify that Maria is a guy. Since Maria doesn’t want his secret out, he blackmails her. Kanako ends up giving in, and when she walks back to her dorm, she finds that Maria is there as well. And Maria tells her he will be watching her 24/7, to make sure his secret does not come out, even if she promised. (Argh, it ended up longer than I expected)

I really think the plot is quite original, for being somewhat a parody to the yuri genre. I mean, “Girl who is trying to find her destined yuri partner finds out her hopeful mate is actually a sadistic guy,” hopefully I worded that correctly. Honestly though, it sounds quite amusing to watch, and it really is. Maria†Holic is really something that is enjoyable, and something unique to me. By the looks of it, it will probably be all of the antics between Kanako, Maria, and Matsurika. I honestly think that somehow Maria and Kanako will somehow form a relationship…

Characters:

I think that is the strong point of the series: the characters. They are just so entertaining to watch, and the voice actors did their job superbly. It really is impressive, and I already love the characters in this series.

Kanako: She is a pretty good heroine for this series. She prefers the title “yuri”…huh. I guess I’m just not very fond of her being scared of guys so easily. Another thing that makes me wonder is why does she break out in HIVES after touching guys? I know she has some trauma in her childhood, but still, I wonder if she will always have it. I hope not. Kanako is somehow quite entertaining to me, I guess it’s her chibi thoughts, and her weird thoughts that just make me laugh. The voice actress did really well with Kanako as well, and I think it fits her nicely, especially when she has to switch from being polite to crazy.

Maria: He is the spotlight character! I would have been so fooled by Maria, I mean, he really looks like a girl. XD I enjoy how his personalities as well. He is really good as acting as a polite, sweet girl, but I wonder why he has to dress up as a girl…it makes me curious! >:< The voice actress, Yuu Kobayashi, is just so great being a polite young lady and then becoming a sadistic boy in like, 10 seconds. Her voice really fits both sides well, and I could’ve been fooled that that was a real boy voicing her if I didn’t know any better.

Matsurika: A very entertaining maid indeed. ^^ Matsurika is so fun to watch, because of how emotionless, she can be, yet talks bad but still follows Maria. I think my favorite part of the episode is when she says (according to the subs), “A play? You shitty bastard,” and “One or two broken ribs won’t kill you.” And in the manga, when she talks back as well. Yet she still follows what Maria tells her to do, as a loyal maid. Marina Inoue did well, and I realized she can be pretty versatile, because I would’ve never guessed that she voiced Kyoko from Skip Beat! if someone didn’t point it out.

Comedy:

Ah, Maria†Holic really is something enjoyable, and its intentions are to make me laugh. It did. I guess since it makes fun of yuri, it’s just funny. Kanako’s chibi’s thoughts, Maria’s sadistic personality, Matsurika’s attitude to Maria, it all is just funny. I really don’t have much to say, but yes, it is funny. Also, I read the manga, and the chapters have been funny as well. Sadly, there’s only 4 chapters (and 2 & 3 are really short) so it’s probably going to all be in episode 2. Most of the comedy will probably be Kanako’s torture from Maria. Ah, this should be exciting.

All in all, I loved the first episode, and I really think that it has good potential. I’m excited to see the next episode! I recommend this anime, and the manga, so go ahead, and watch or read away! :D
